The CAFETY.org Community is Now Live!
Our website offer a centralized place for CAFETY members to connect with one another and the public by concurrently educating others about their residential program experience. CAFETY.org offers the kind of transparency programs with closed campuses prohibit, shedding light on what goes on behind closed door and offering easy access to public officials, parents, the press and other seeking to understand the youth experience.
The roots of this growing community of concerned alumni/survivors of residential care and our allies lies in our shared experiences and in our desire to come together to learn, educate and ultimately empower ourselves to become effective advocates. We understand that we have an obligation to care for one another and can not remain silent - that our experiences were traumatic or otherwise unsatisfactory and without systemic change, other youth continue to be disempowered. If we do not tell our stories, no one else will.
Please join our community and make use of your homepage, our blogging function and forums. It is our hope that, by connecting with one another and engaging with the public and press, we may effectively end the uneccessary segregation of struggling youth and help ensure the protection of their human rights.
